Gateway of India to Elephanta Caves — your private boat, your timing.
Skip the long government ferry queues. Hire a private speed boat or yacht direct from the Gateway of India to the UNESCO Elephanta Caves — and ride back when you're ready.
The difference between a queue and a memory.
The government ferry is fine — until you've waited 90 minutes in the sun. A private boat changes the entire day.
No queues
Skip the long Gateway ferry line. Step on, sit down, sail.
Your timing
Government ferries leave on a fixed schedule. Your private boat leaves when you do.
Faster crossing
~25 minutes by speed boat vs ~60 minutes on the public ferry.
Ride back when you want
No fixed return slot. Spend as long as you want at the caves — your boat waits.
Comfortable for families
Padded seats, shade, life jackets — much more comfortable than a packed public deck.
Photo-worthy
Private boat off the Gateway, harbour skyline behind you — the photos people actually keep.
The UNESCO caves, 10km off the Gateway.
Elephanta Island is home to a network of rock-cut caves dating to the 5th–8th century, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The trimurti sculpture in the main cave is one of the most important pieces of Indian rock art — and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
From the Gateway of India jetty it is a short, scenic crossing across the Mumbai harbour. Our private boats take you direct, with no waiting and no fixed return time. Most guests spend 2–3 hours on the island before sailing back.

Gateway to Elephanta — common questions.
How long does it take from Gateway to Elephanta by speed boat?
About 25 minutes one way by private speed boat. Public ferries take around an hour.
Is Elephanta open every day?
Elephanta Caves are closed on Mondays. Open Tuesday to Sunday, typically 09:00 to 17:00 (last entry around 15:30). We recommend a morning start.
Can I book a private boat to Elephanta and back?
Yes — return private hire is the most popular option. Your boat waits at the island while you explore, and brings you back when ready.
How long should I spend at the caves?
Most guests spend 2 to 3 hours on the island — including the toy train, the cave visit and lunch.
What does a private Elephanta boat trip cost?
Boats are priced per trip (return). Cost depends on boat size, day and duration. Send an inquiry for a same-day quote.
Is the boat ride safe for kids and elderly?
Yes — children's life jackets are provided. For elderly guests we recommend the calmer yacht option over the speed boat.
